Welcome to Bremen Township
Dear Bremen Township Resident,
Welcome to our new Bremen Township website. Our staff has been working hard to rebrand our township with a new logo, improved social media outreach and a more informative and innovative website.
As your Supervisor, I expressed a desire to set forth a new vision and direction for our township. We want our residents to use this newly designed site to get the latest information on our programs, services, special events and resources available to those we serve.
For those unfamiliar with township government, we offer services in the areas of property taxes, voter registration, election services, general assistance for those without income or resources, energy assistance for low-income households, youth programs and senior services.
Bremen Township covers an area of 37.8 square miles, with 13 municipalities within those boundaries and just over 107,000 residents as of the 2020 census. Bremen Township is bordered by Harlem Avenue (Illinois Route 43) on the west, 135th Street on the north, Western Avenue on the east and 183rd Street on the south. It was organized in 1850 and is named after the State of the same name in Germany as this area was settled by primarily German settlers.
It is our top priority to remain fiscally responsible while maintaining current services, and then look for ways to improve benefits for our residents.
Residents will surely appreciate some of the innovative ideas we are exploring and making a reality. All of us working at Bremen Township are grateful for the opportunity to serve you, and we hope you enjoy our fresh look.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Straniero
Township Supervisor
