Wellness Center

Introduction

Hello, My name is Dr. Michele Ferraro, I am humbled and thrilled to be able to serve the Bremen Township community.  Mental health stability is the big topic of discussion on the world stage, as we move on from the COVID years.  Our young people have been affected in a very negative manner, spending days trying to navigate online/zoom classes essentially on their own, took a toll, as seen in an increase of anxiety, acting out, depression, suicidal ideation… As adults, we understand the ravishes of isolation and loneliness.  These features have affected all of us, but to a higher degree in children and seniors.

Adequate mental health encompasses more than just how we feel.  It is the way we respond to life – a collection of our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.  It affects how we interact with other humans, as well as ourselves.  Poor mental health can destroy our physical, spiritual, personal, social, and work lives.  Actually, it affects every facet of daily living.  Bremen Township Wellness Center was established to assist our residents in creating a more balanced, holistic daily life.  Good mental health requires mind, body, spirit interaction.  We intend to provide services to feed your mind (psychoeducational information, book clubs, titillating chats, and group and individual therapy), body (walking, yoga, movement) and spirit (meditation, socializing).  Give us a look as we begin to develop our programs.

We understand there is a stigma associated with mental health needs in some communities.  We want to dispel those notions.  There is no shame in asking for help.  It is the intelligent thing to do.  For every action, there is a consequence – good or bad.  Good decision making is a practice, which can be improved.  We are here to help!

We are excited to launch some of our new programs.  First, let me introduce myself.

I am a licensed Clinical Health Psychologist.  As a proponent of holistic medicine and a healer, I believe in the mind body spirit connection.  I hold a PsyD in clinical psychology from ISPP and an MBA from the University of Chicago.  I am a certified Focusing Teacher, a Reiki master/teacher and practitioner.  I am also trained in EMDR and hypnotherapy.  In addition, I hold certificates as an Integrative Mental Health Professional, Play Therapy Practitioner, Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Practitioner, and others.  My doctoral dissertation: Focusing used as an intervention for chronic pain, found statistically significant results.

We will begin building our program with community chats and group sessions, offering individual sessions moving forward.
