KATHRYN STRANIERO – BREMEN TOWNSHIP SUPERVISOR

As we have mentioned so many times before, our senior community has contributed countless hours of service to their respective communities. Whether it be your church, volunteering with youth organizations, working food pantries, or other activities for the betterment of where you happen to call home. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed and your value cannot be underestimated. We at Bremen Township try to pay back in whatever way we can, by increasing and enhancing our Senior Services Department with more programs, activities, and services geared toward and keeping it affordable to our senior community.

We also recognize that some members of our senior community are faced with financial challenges and struggle with making ends meet. While some other towns in the township cut back or eliminated other senior services, Bremen Township stepped up and assumed those responsibilities without any additional costs to our residents and in some cases actually at a lower cost to seniors.

We also thought that we could do more, and took the unprecedented and historic step of passing a resolution to lower our own salaries by 5% for the next four years with those savings going directly to programs and services and are proud to do our small part in easing the burden.

I want to thank Trustees Mary Catuara, Ed Maggio, John M. (Mike) Tatro along with Clerk John Lord and Highway Commissioner John Flaherty for putting the needs of residents in the forefront and for their vote and support for this remarkable gesture of appreciation to our senior residents.

In order to ensure that all seniors in all of the towns, cities, or villages within Bremen Township are aware of the services we offer, we have established an outreach program to all seniors to inform and take advantage of the variety of interesting activities that you may have an interest in. We have made presentations to every senior group that has requested us to attend their meetings. Please remember, that if you belong to a senior club or organization and would like your group to learn more about us, please call our Administrative Office at (708) 333-9530 or our Senior Services Office at (708) 687-8220 or contact us by email at info@brementownship.net.  As always, it is our pleasure to serve you and look forward to hearing from you.

Your Friend & Neighbor, Kathy
